Topic: Pulitzer Prize
The Pulitzer Prize does not have a specific category for Black history. However, there have been many significant works on Black history that have won Pulitzer Prizes in other categories such as history, biography, and non-fiction literature. Some notable examples include “Parting the Waters: America in the King Years 1954-63” by Taylor Branch, which won the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1989, and “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration” by Isabel Wilkerson, which won the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction in 2011. These works and others like them have contributed greatly to the understanding and recognition of Black history in America.
